"Ojo A Ba Ku La Ndere Eniyan O Sun O Laaye "
"It is on the day of our exit that our earthly deeds would be revealed as people would say how good or bad we were."
May I use this medium on behalf of the entire good people of Owo North-West LCDA to commiserate with the immediate family members of our dearest leader and pathfinder, Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi , Mr. Governor and the entire Ondo state on this monumental loss so devastating. We pray that God Almighty will grant everyone the rare fortitude to bear this huge irreparable and irreplaceable loss and repose the soul of the departed in paradise.
The death of Hon. Omotayo OLUWATUYI a.k.a TUYKANA , our darling brother and leader, the former Chairman of Akure-South Local Government and Secretary to the State Government (SSG) has once again reminded everyone the ephemerality and vanity of human life ; and the need for one to live a decent ,purposeful and people-oriented life when God still gives us the grace to be around .
If there is any take away from the various tributes, condolence messages and dirges that have been pouring in since the news of his departure hit the airwaves and shared on social media platforms, it is the fact that it has been the solace that ,though Tuykana is no longer with us, his good deeds will continue to speak loudly amongst us. This, I want to believe, should be a worthwhile soothing balm for his immediate family and loved ones as death is inevitable since everyone would pay the ultimate price irrespective of one's political or social status , stature and position ; but when and how it would happen is what we don’t know. Tuykana (as fondly called by his teeming supporters and closed associates) has gone to answer the call of his Maker, so the race is now left for you and I but the way and manner we will decide to run it and what people will say about us matters should be our primary concern. Remember ,Vox Populi, Vox Dei ( the voice of the people is the voice of God).
Take it or leave it, your " Gra - gra ; Temi ni ma se ; ko se ni to le e mu mi; I am in charge; Bi o ba se wu mi ni mo ma se " would definitely end one day. Ask yourself, those before you, how did they end it? In these few years of our sojourn here, we have witnessed the death of the High and Mighty, the Rich and the Poor, the Old and the Young. Those out there saying I am in charge, I can do and undo, How I wish you would quickly mend your ways and stop abusing the grace of God upon your life… How I wish you knew that the power and position you are occupying now that has gone into your head is transient . I challenge you to take a pause and read what Ondo state people are saying about Tuykana today… "Arise Larika ,Arika Baba Iregun ."
We thank God Almighty for the exemplary life lived by the loved and the departed while he was here with us. I can say with all sense of responsibility that Tuykana was indeed a good man. His humility is superb. His commitment to serve the people selflessly is second to none. I could remember on the day he was to be handed the responsibility of coordinating the state for Tinubu/Shetima Campaign Council where I also served as Owo Local Government Coordinator in 2023, he was perfectly calm , composed and collected. We both met at Dr. Akinola Akinsehinwa- Awodeyi ‘s Residence in Owo; and my first interaction (one on one) with him actually revealed the stuff he was made of. He was humility personified. My impression about his personality right from that day never waned until his unfortunate death. Tuykana was loved by his people and the people of Ondo state beyond party lines; and was a committed and dedicated Public Servant who never used his exalted position to suppress people’s rights or well beings. The people of Ondo state will greatly miss this kind-hearted figure and illustrious son of Ondo state.
His death is agonizing and words will be futile to convey our anguish at this mourning period.
We shall continue to take solace in the Exemplary life worthy of emulation he lived. "Iwo Na Lojo To Ba Ku, Kini A Ma A So Nipa E…?"
Adieu! Hon. Omotayo Oluwatuyi (Tuykana)
