" Gov. Ayedatiwa Should Consider The Good People of Owo, Compensate Akeredolu", Says The Liberators ,Ondo State
The unfortunate death of the first citizen of Ondo State remains a huge loss to the entire good people of Ondo State particularly his kinsmen who are now throne into rude shock by this sinister development.
It's however necessary to submit that HE, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN,CON was a dogged fighter, unrepentant human right activist , disciplined unionist , great tactician and strategist while he was alive. He was an astute politician , blunt realist, fine administrator and refined democrat as a visionist with an emblem of heroism.
Akeredolu stood his ground and spoke truth to power always especially during the unfortunate illness of Late President Umaru Yar'adua and the spreading orgy of violence allegedly perpetrated by the Fulani herdsmen. For living a life of devotion to humanity and commitment to the welfare of mankind, he had etched his name on the golden door of history. May his gentle soul rest peacefully in the bosom of His Creator.

As a body that parades tested and trusted men and women who are managers and manageresses of men and materials,The Liberators,an Islamic pressure group in Ondo sympathize with the wife , children and families of Akeredolu, SAN over this untimely exit of an icon. We also express our heartfelt condolences to Gov. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa and the entire good citizens of the sunshine state as well as Olowo, HRM, Oba (Dr) Ajibade Gbadegesi Ogunoye III and the good people of Owo kingdom over this monumental national loss.
While waiting for the burial ceremony cum Interment of remains of this living legend, we passionately call on the former Acting Governor but now substantial Governor of Ondo, Gov. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa to please consolidate on the landmark achievements , indelible footprints and shinning legacies of his predecessor . This shall be an acid test to your loyalty and good will.
As governance is a continuum, we therefore call on the newly sworn-in governor to compensate the entire good people of Ondo North especially Owo who collectively cried out that the sacred provisions of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria should be upheld during the long absence of the former governor before his unfortunate demise. The entire Ondo North people and APC family should ,as matter of moral consideration, pick an Owo indigene as a Deputy Governor to logically compensate Owo people who at the moment are not in any juicy position either by election or appointment.

The Liberators , Ondo State therefore drums support for Alhaji Jamiu Afolabi EKUNGBA - The Big Idea. This political gladiator has paid his price in Ondo State and national politics. He was baptized with the toga of progressive politics as a supporter of progressive elements in Ondo State with open support for PDP, LP and ANPP until he joined active politics recently. He was a staunch member of Action Congress (AC) then and later Action Congress of Nigeria ( ACN) as a gubernatorial aspirant. He worked tirelessly to fix challenges in the party by investing energy time, resources and millions of naira across the eighteen (18) LGAs. The party later become a veritable platform for opposition before Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN, CON of blessed memory became its governorship candidate in 2012.
Ekungba ,a high Chief and one of the senior sons of Olowo as a kingmaker, also joined efforts with other progressive elements to float All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2014. He was also one of the governorship aspirants who later stepped down to pave way for the emergence of Ondo North and Aketi as the party candidate for 2016 governorship election. He had sacrificed enough without any due compensation as a political juggernaut who is a strategist and tactician. Considering his loyalty and steadfastness ,he was appointed by Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN as the Chairman of Transition Committee in 2020. He delivered to the admiration of the former governor and the entire members of APC and the good people of the sunshine state.

Jamiu is a thorough-bred in community development advocacy being a community integrator and youth development enthusiast. He is also a well-known mechanized farmer and well trained/highly knowledgeable financial expert who had served as the Director of Trade Bank. As a member of Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, he had previously held various positions of responsibility until now as a grand patron . He is the new Baba Adinni of Owo Muslim Community to attest to his goodwill and acceptance by his people. He is indeed a renowned personality beyond the shores of Owo and the entire Ondo State as an astute politician, financial expert, great farmer and Muslim progressive.
Apart from the aforementioned sterling virtues and attributes of firm character, administrative acumen and institutional discipline that have stood him out as an icon with BIG IDEA and the highlighted reasons for Owo to be considered for the Deputy Governor, Ekungba is the right peg in the right hole politically, economically and socially. He is loved by his people considering his adorable antecedents and scorecards. As a Muslim too, he represents a large percentage of the muslim population in Ondo State. If Afolabi is considered, it will also give the muslim community in Ondo State a sense of belonging as Christians in the state have been duly compensated for seven (7) years out of the eight (8) years with the selection of Hon. Agboola Ajayi and Gov. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa for the same position.
As a group, The Liberators Ondo State understands the dynamics of Ondo State politics. Gov. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa should be magnanimous enough to select HighCh. Jamiu Afolabi EKUNGBA, the Ekon-Odo Agbara of Owo Kingdom who represents different interests and has suffered deprivation in different ways despite his huge sacrifice and untainted loyalty to APC as his deputy for the remaining period of this tenure

Late Aketi had indeed performed meritoriously considering his too many testimonies of quality delivery and testimonials of great performance in all sectors. A choice of Owo man and Alhaji Afolabi EKUNGBA - The Big Idea if considered by HE, Gov Ayedatiwa shall etch for him a good name in the hearts of the people and a choice place on the golden door of history.
The prayer of The Liberators is that posterity shall reward and history shall smile to the governor ,if in his wisdom ,he satisfies the curiosity and yearning of the entire people who currently are unfortunately thrown into mourning by the sudden death of their son and kinsman.
