On Friday evening , a very disturbing news filtered into Emure-Ile kingdom in Owo LGA ,Ondo State of the dastardly act of unknown gunmen that attacked two motorists at Iroko-Ologbe ,a stone-throw from the Anglican Church Cemetery along Eporo-Emure Road.
The incident is so unfortunate ,and concerted efforts was made by Abejoye Media News to authenticate the veracity of the disheartening occurrence. According to anonymous source at the Anglican Church vicarage where the Camry Car ridden with bullets was temporarily parked for tyre replacement, the owner of the car was with his wife trying learning driving along the road when the incident occurred. Meanwhile,the car front tyres and windscreen were shot at but they escaped by the whiskers without any bullet wound. So was reported of the other motorist who also escaped with a close shave.
Meanwhile ,at the venue of the remembrance anniversary of the 2021 Ero graduands today in the community ,a man with questionable identify was quizzed ,but later handed over to the men of South-West Security Network code-named Amotekun for further investigation . The police formation in the kingdom was reached much later in the evening by AMN to know if the report was reliably reported A source who also claimed anonymity told our reporter that the incident actually happened , and was confirmed . Although the gunmen suspected to be Fulani herders or notorious armed robbers are still at large ,and that efforts is at top gear to comb the area so as to apprehend them and free the road of the hoodlums.
"We are now extremely appealing to our people " according to Ch. Okundalaye Oluwasanyi Olabamiwo Gbabee "to be security conscious and report anyone with suspicious movement in the community to the concerned authorities.." He however commended the effort of Ch. Olosi Ojo Olanipekun Galajo for his speedy response toward reaching the security operatives when the incident was reported.
As at the time of filing this report, efforts to get in touch with Elemure of Emure-Ile,HRM, Oba Simeon Adedubaje Adeyefa (I) JP proved abortive ,but with the contributions of Ch. Okundalaye Oluwasanyi who is sufficiently close to the traditional ruler,one would have concluded that the first-class monarch of the town would have been briefed appropriately.
The youths of the community were also agitated ; so are many residents now panic-stricken ;and while speaking with some of them , they condemned the incident in strong terms but appealed to the government and in particular all the security operatives to beef up security along the road to protect lives and property of both residents who are mainly agarian farmers , the motorists and other road users plying the road on daily basis . The Youth Leader ,Comr Ogunmolasuyi Edward could not be immediately reached on phone,but some of the youths claimed that necessary actions are already taken by the youth leadership in the town to prevent future repeat of the dastardly act.
They called on government to immediately speed up action to alleviate tension in the kingdom as occasioned by this unfortunate incident while appealing to the state government to expedite action aims at protecting the community's inhabitants and completing the ongoing rehabilitation of the said road now becoming hide-out for gunmen .
