Barely few hours to the National Assembly election , in evening of Friday ,25th February ,2023, APC thugs went on rampage at Ehin-Ogbe Ward 1 in Owo as another attack was lunched on PDP campaign vehicles belonging to the PDP House of Representatives candidate for Owo/Ose Federal Constituency, Rt Hon. Ayo Arowele.
Just yesterday, the PDP Youth Leader of Iloro Ward 6 in the LGA, Mr Aruna Adafen was shot at Arigidi by unknown thug allegedly loyal to the ruling APC in the ancient town. Today's attack, no doubt ,has confirmed the fact that APC is a political enclave of wolves in human's skin who are ready to shoot their way to victory now that they are rejected by the electorates.
While reacting on the said attack as investigated by Abejoye Media, Arowele condemned the brutality of the APC thugs , describing the destruction of his buses , motorcycle and those of his supporters as callous and wickedly. " I have been very conscious of the welfare of our people. I detest thuggery and hooliganism as I do not encourage it throughout our campaign periods. So, I'm worried while APC leaders would deplore thugs to attack me and destroy my vehicles and other campaign materials. This is indeed extremely heartbreaking and appallingly barbaric."
Speaking further ,he maintained," My focus is on the election before me tomorrow. I'm very sure of victory ,so I don't want anything to affect the poll negatively knowing that victory is at hand for me and the PDP."
The said attack was alleged to have been perpetrated by the notorious thugs - Ayuba , Sefere and Arowele Gbenga who is popularly known as Ojasope under the directive of one Hon. Isiaka Elegbereban who is one of the former Special Assistants to the governor, Arakunrin Akeredolu, SAN from Ehin-Ogbe ,the political ward of the Hon. Arowele.
To the Director General of Arowele Campaign Council, Barr. Kunle Ijalana ,he has this to say,"We have reported the matter to the police as law-abiding people as we have refrained from taking law into our hands. Our desire is that the perpetrators of this crime must be brought to book."
The PDP LG Chairman in Owo LGA, High Ch. I.O Olafimihan-Asaba also registered his displeasure as he condemned in strong term the unprovoked attack on his party members and the the destruction of campaign vehicles and materials of his party candidates as very unfortunate. This is our community. We are all critical stakeholders. We have pleaded with our peace to remain calm as we call on Arakunrin Akeredolu, SAN and HIM, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesi Ogunoye , the Olowo Of Owo to sue for peace so as to avoid plunging the peaceful community into anomie."
We are very convinced nevertheless that our electorates in Owo and Ose LGA will vote for us and the PDP tomorrow. This is the reason we are now victim of unprovoked attack of the APC. This is not hidden from the general public.
"We are resolutely determined to go into this election with unrepentant doggedness and resilience even in the face of oppression and repression of the ruling party. Like we remain calm yesterday over the destruction of our posters and flyers ,we enjoin our members and teeming supporters to remain unperturbed by the intimidation of the APC goons" , said Otunba Oyewole Fasawe, a foremost leader of the PDP in the state.
" In God Almighty we trust knowing that victory will come to us eventually. We appeal to our people to go out tomorrow en-masse to vote for me and all our other party candidates from TOkS,our Senatorial Candidate to Alh. Atiku Aburbaka ,our presidential candidate" concluded Rt Hon. Arowele .
