The CLUB premises of Owo Recreation Club witnessed a flow of members , home and abroad to exercise their franchises to elect new executives for year 2023.
The AGM of the club was held at the club premises on Tuesday 27th December, 2022 while the election was conducted by a 3-man electoral Committee led by one of the past presidents, Ch. Olorunfemi Efo on Wednesday 28th December, 2022 .
Surveyor Segun Olayanju popularly known as Akarakiri lead his opponent Ch. Olagbuji a renowned Administrator to emerge as the President.
Other executive members are; Mr. Faremi Akin as Vice President, Engr. Comrade Rafiu Ijawoye as Gen. Secretary, Mr. Ayalokunrin Gbenga as Premises Secretary, and Mr. Soetan Bamidele as Bar Secretary
The new club executives led by Surveyor Olayanju have been sworn in. Olayanju was the immediate past Vice- President of the club.
He was sworn in at the Club premises alongside other members to run the affairs of the club for the next one year.
The swearing in ceremony was performed by Barr. Omotosho in conjunction with Prince Samuel Abiola under the supervisions of Past Presidents which includes; Alh. Sesan Aderibigbe, Alh. Yinusa Adeola, Dr. Engr. Alagha S.A., Hon. Augustine Oloruntogbe, the incumbent Executive Chairman of Akoko South Local Government Area, Oka- Akoko. Others are, Alh. Razak Akinyemi and the immediate past President Dr. Odji Emmanuel.
They urged the new Executive Committee to be magnanimous in victory and show spirit of sportsmanship by bringing all members on the same page.
They also urged the new President to reach out to all parties and be a leader of all members regardless of who they supported during the election process.
In his remarks, the president thanked the Grand-Patrons of the club, His Excellency, Arakunrin Odunayo Akeredolu, the Executive Governor of Ondo State and the Patron, Olowo of Owo kingdom, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Ajibade Ogunoye III, for their unflinching supports and fatherly advice in the past years. Also, the new executives promised to prioritize welfare of members in many areas , particularly in sporting activities and health care. The president also promised to reposition the club to be more enviable and become best Club among comity of clubs in Nigeria such that all members would be proud of.
Meanwhile, members adjudged that the election was free and fair , and advised the committee to live up to expectation of members of the club.
