I Wrote This Letter To Senator Boroffice Of Ondo North Long Ago! -Tolu Babaleye

My resolve not to work with him for a 4th term evolved with time due to failure to keep promises. I read the tantrum of the so called faceless G-30,000 and I laughed it off. I know the article was written by the SLA to Boroffice from Okitipupa masquerading as Bayo Olagbegi on Facebook, 30, 000 lazy youths are a dot in a circle among 1.2 Million Ondo North People who desired a better representation. All the aids working with the Senator have no PVC in Ondo North. We shall reject him at the poll. It is not my intention to join issues but as long as they write against me going forward, I will always reply them because of public perception.

Never again shall Ondo North reinforce failure!

DEAR DISTINGUISHED SENATOR ROBERTS AJAYI BOROFFICE!

RE: MY APPOINTMENT AS COORDINATOR OF SENATOR BOROFFICE SCHOLARSHIP TO 240 ONDO NORTH STUDENTS AT ADEKUNLE AJASIN UNIVERSITY, AKUNGBA AKOKO - REQUEST TO BE EXCUSED BASED ON PRINCIPLE!

My attention has been drawn to a certain social media publication with respect to the above subject-matter and the inclusion of my name in the said publication as a Coordinator for the proposed Scholarship for 240 Ondo State Students in AAUA. The said publication is attached as annexure.

I really appreciate the fact that you still remember me and decided to include me in the coordination without first  discussing it with me and haven not spoken to me for close to one year (except when you called me to commiserate with me on the death of my father), but unfortunately, I won't be able to participate in the said programme due to my irreconcilable differences with the modus operandi and the timing of the program.

Recall that as the Director General  of your Campaign organisation at the last election, we crisscrossed the 72 Wards of Ondo North Senatorial District together looking for votes for your 3rd term as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria against the stand of our State Governor who had irreconcilable differences with you and decided to work for his candidate in another party (though the matter is now settled). That election was the toughest election I have ever participated in because it required working against the State Governor who is the Leader of the party and who has the instrument of Government including security at his beck and call.

I could recollect our campaign at Owo Local Government and how tough it was and the risk we took. While as a sitting Senator you were inside a bullet proof Land Cruiser Jeep, I was inside a Sienna with my boys and I was a major target but I refused to be cowed and shaken based on my conviction and we had a successful campaign rally in Owo Local Government.

I could also recollect the risk I took along with 4 others, Hon. Bolakale Daodu, Hon. Opeyemi Igbede, Mr. Osho Kayode and my Personal Assistant Mr. Olagoji Julius. I did not enter my house for 2 days and despite the heavy shooting at Owo, I, in the company of my team entered the collation centre, stood by the votes and ensured I collected the result and declaration as winner certificates from INEC. I recalled what you told me while handing the certificate to you in your house but I will not make that public here.

I invested my resources in your election to your admiration and Hon Ajulu was surprised and he expressed delight in working with me as a goal getter. I called the meeting of Akoko Women who were all angry with you in my hotel, I prostrated for them and I remained on the ground for 30 minutes until they agreed to move ahead with me for your course in the presence of same said Honourable Ajulu and Hon. Bolakale Daodu. I promised them empowerment based on my discussion and agreement with you and they all worked and voted for us. You actually returned part of the money to me but some were not. I lost the engine of my 2013 Toyota Camry at Afin Road due to the rocky nature of the road and I was fully responsible in replacing it. You only expressed sympathy for that loss and nothing more! I am saying all this to let you know how passionate I was to your course and ensuring victory; and God did it even though we operated from position of weakness.

That despite your low rating by Ondo North People, with contacts, calls, personal visits, persuasion and apologies and coupled with a well coordinated campaign and modest electoral promises, the good People of Ondo North voted you for the third term as a Senator and the first to be privileged to be elected the 2nd and 3rd term in the history of Ondo North.

Sir, remember that one of the major components of the promises we made together was to give 50k each as Scholarship to 240 students of Ondo North schooling in Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba which will cost 12 Million Naira per year and totalling 48 Million for the 4 years of 3rd term. This Scholarship thing was my idea but you bought it hook, line and sinker and made it the pivot of the campaign since the majority of voters are youths and they are in every household in Ondo North.

Recall sir that after your inauguration and emergence as Deputy Majority Leader, we were all happy that you may even do more than 240 going by the opportunities that would be provided with your additional office. Recall also that I visited you a couple of times to remind you of this Scholarship and other promises as we  assured the good people of Ondo North that your 3rd term which was a miracle would be about human development, empowerment, empowerment and empowerment. When our good People of Ondo North are waiting for you to roll out the fulfilment of your electoral promises, I quickly went on my Facebook wall and coin a synonym which has now become part of your Alias "BABA UN BO" to calm down nerves in September 2019.

Sir, you are now about 1 month into the third year of 3rd term and you are just talking about a Scholarship that ought to have been distributed twice while preparing for the 3rd year award. I have answered many questions and many communities have called on me to ask about what we promised during the campaign but unfortunately we have lost communication as you no longer count me as part of your team since about 4 months into your inauguration; I no longer get to hear anything about your activities but for social media publication and therefore could not answer the questions but have resulted to begging and apologies to those people and the affected communities.  For instance, Chief George Niyi of Ikakumo in Isowopo 2 Akoko North East has continued to harass me and asked me about the Cashew processing Industry that we promised will be inaugurated within one year of 3rd term. Sir, Simerin Oka Community have always asked me for the proposed borehole. Remember we promised to dig a borehole within 4 months after swearing in. On this Scholarship issue, many students body including but not limited to Oka Students Union, Akoko Southwest Students Union, as a matter of fact students from all the 4 Akokos have called me severally and most times have insulted me for the promises. The people of Afo in Ose Local Government have called me times without number for the Engineering graduate slot that we promised to employ from that community as soon as you are inaugurated.

I thank God that you are now set to give the 1st Scholarship which has now fallen into arrears going by our promises. The women we promised quarterly empowerment are also asking questions as you have only done one, ever since. The  Federal Science Research Institute in Akungba has been abandoned at the near lintel stage it was during our campaign and the generator dropped there was removed last week by unknown persons but I blamed the community for allowing the generator to be moved out of that site. The people of Akungba are not happy with this.

Based on the above which are just some examples out of many more, I won't be able to participate in the Scholarship award thing because of my conscience and conviction that Ondo North deserves more than this from a 3rd term Senator. We read what Senator Omo Agege reeled out in his Senatorial District within 2 years but to us, we don't know what happened. I am compelled to make this public because of tomorrow as I want our Senatorial District to know that I am not part of what is happening shortchanging them though I played an active role in ensuring  your 3rd term victory.

Distinguished sir, you know that this is not about my personal empowerment as you are aware that I have NEVER asked you for any obligation and you NEVER did one for me. I am a Lawyer in practice and God has continued to provide for me in a way I  least expected owing to my humble background. Recall that even when you gave me a case to handle at Owo, I  later returned your file after several efforts and appearances based on the fact that you cannot pay my bill of 3 Million Naira but instead, you insisted on paying me 250k but I rejected it and I have since moved on. All I care for is for the People of Ondo North to get infrastructure and empowerment based on our promises during the campaign.

I wish you well in your future endeavours.

TOLU BABALEYE ESQ,

Your former Director General.
