Fire Razes The Residence Of Former Ondo Speaker


An early morning fire has reportedly gutted part of the buildings in the residence of the former speaker of  Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Taofeek Abdul-Salam at Ijapo,Akure, the state capital.

The unfortunate incident occurred around 6.am on Tuesday and affected the Boy's Quarters  of the building.

It was gathered from impeccable sources  that the cause of the inferno was an electric spark from a generating set at the Boys Quarters.Many electrical appliances and other valuable materials  in the building were affected.

However, the residents of the area came out swiftly to assist in putting out the fire.

The Hon. Commissioner for Works in the state, Engr Raimi Aminu popularly known as Rimi promptly directed the officials of the State Fire Service to the scene to further help extinguish the fire.

Speaking with newsmen on telephone, Abdulsalam appreciated the residents and sympathizers in the area for coming to his rescue, and expressed gratitude to the Commissioner for his magnanimity.
