Rising like the sun from obscurity in the horizon but with a royal blood full of push, quest and fortitude, Comr Ojo Samuel , a grandson of the Late Ojo Makun-Ageh finished the line with distinction as he signed out from Rufus Giwa Polytechnic,Owo yesterday as an award-merit scholar.
Unlike his uncle ,Mr Jide Ageh who studied Architecture oversea with common wealth scholarship facilitated by Late Dr Ibidapo Fatogun popularly known as NUGOTAF in the diaspora but Lolo at home, Samuel had the incurable desire to pursue Urban and Regional Planning with the mandate to help the kingdom ,his ancestral home becomes a free and Independent community when he fully will be evolved. At his ND level, he served as the Welfare Director of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning while cutting his teeth as an emerging leader, and graduated then as second best graduating student with a CGPA of 3.29.
His leadership training began during his Industrial Training (IT) at Lagos State Development and Property Corporation. Samuel became the IT Student Coordinator, and was the leader of all the polytechnic and university students on SIWES.At the inception of his HND program, he was elected the departmental Welfare Director and served meritoriously for a period of one year. During this period, he was already the only distinction candidate in the entire department. This is indeed a testament of academic dexterity and a testimony of the golden stalactite and stalagmite of cerebral ingenuity in his royal bloodline...
When in the final year of his academic program, Samuel was elected the President of the department unopposed on the strength of his unprecedented CGPA in HND I and his wife human managerial/resources administrative acumen. His impeccable record of performance in this capacity coupled with his uncommon trait of firm character and mercurial discipline won for him the seat of member of the Faculty of Environmental Studies Students Representative Council (FRC) where he was made the Secretary. He was as well a distinguished member of the Council of Departmental Presidents (CODEPS) within the institution.
The precocious Samuel though a workaholic and insatiable learner maintained his CGPA as he finally emerged as the best student with distinction in the department. This is a dream come true.
While speaking to Abejoye Media , Ojo concluded, " This is an achievement I owe to God Almighty, my dearest parents, you , Hon Bob as my mentor and all my lecturers." He stressed further," Sir, I am not just making myself proud today, but I am glad and filled with pride that I'm the only student in my entire department that hails from Emure-Ile, a town with challenges currently yet blessed with great talents and potentials of which I'm proud to be one considering my uncommon flying colour in such a difficult field. Hopefully, the town is again re-emerging and our names shall be written in gold for playing our part for her repositioning , retooling and rebranding."
He however revealed patiently while he appealed passionately that hidden talents like him abound in the kingdom and that they should be assisted to kiss prosperity when pledging to plough back without delay if such rare favour is attracted by him for further academic pursuit.
At home ,apart from been the Owo LG Coordinator of Youth For New Nigeria and Special Assistant to Ondo North Senatorial Youth Leader on Youth Matters, he is also a bonafide member of Olutedo Youth Forum . He has also served in various capacities the Emure-Ile Youth Council (EDC) under the indefatigable and amiable Youth Leader, Comrade Ogunmolasuyi Olusola Edward who he also appreciated for his selfless support for his outstanding achievements.
