Ondo North Senatorial District PDP Meeting At Owo : A Launchpad Into A New Beginning

At Owo today ,it was a rare political carnival for the PDP members in the six LGAs of Akoko North-East, Akoko North-West, Akoko South-East ,Akoko South-West,  Ose and Owo as they converged at the Old Ifon Park , Ijebu-Owo to discuss the future of the party and join force with rational thinkers and conscious Nigerians to save the nation from anarchy and penury.

The Senatorial Executive Committee under the watch of the erstwhile paliamentarian and refined democrat, Bobby Michael Omotoso flanked by the six-LGA Chairmen of the party used the avenue to challenge the members, leaders, stakeholders and hierachy of the party to buckle up to rescue the nation.  In attendance among the Senatorial Executive Committee members  were the Secretary, Mr Alaba Ekpenga; the Youth Leader, Hon.Nasirudeen I. Boboye-Ijawoye; the Woman Leader, Hon. (Mrs) Tolani Hassan; the Organizing Secretary,  Hon. Oguntoyinbo Victor; the treasurer, Hon. Ologun Blessing Thadeus; the Legal Adviser, Barr. Bayegun; and Hon. Alaba Arohunmolase...

The meeting came two days after the interface of the Senatorial Executive Committee with all the aspirants for the three elective positions that are available and contestable, that is, Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assemby in the district.

At the meeting , all critical stakeholders and leaders spoke about the need to rescue Nigeria and the hapless citizens while laying much emphasis on the unity and cohesion among members and selflessness of aspirants to help provide sellable and capable personalities for each contestable position.

According to the Senatorial Woman Leader who presided over the meeting in the absence of the Senatorial Chairman, Hon.Omotosho due to both personal and  official  reasons, she admonished the aspirants to be pragmatic and ready to work together irrespective of circumstances to ensure the victory of the party in the general election. She then warned against politics of vendatte and bitterness should they eventually contest for election through the primary where consensus is impossible. " PDP is the last hope of the common man on the street. We must as a party assist the confused citizens and the younger generation to have a working and prosperous country."

She appealed to the categories of leaders and critical stakeholders to mobilize electorates and canvassed them for votes to change the ugly shenanigans wickedly pursued by the unfortunate occupants of the corridors of power as we speak from the ruling APC.

According to Hon. Bsnso and Hon. Rasheed Elegbeleye, they preached unity and commitment of party faithfuls to the rescue mission. The Minority Leader ,Hon. Elegbeleye emphasized on provision of quality mobilization incentives to all categories of candidates after the primaries so as to win convincingly unlike in the previous years when MHA Candidates were left stranded financially.

Bashorun Abitogun and other critical stakeholders referred to  the crucial meeting as a template for the reunion of all party faithfuls. However, the   astute politician and medical doctor/aspirant for Senate,  Omo Teacher and Prince Ade Okiki ,a former permanent Secretary  rep of Oluwadare Gabriel Oluwaseyi ( OGO) who  respectively on behalf of the aspirants for Senate and Reps appealed to the leaders and critical stakeholders to be fair and just always while maintaining that the aspirants have agreed within themselves never to make the contest a do or die affair. This is similar to the phenomenal love demonstrated by the aspirants for the House of Assemblies by their quality interraction .

As gathered from impeccable sources within the party by Abejoye Media, PDP has embarked on a rigorous and aggressive campaign and mobilization in the district. It was stated clearly that tomorrow, Friday at Ikare , the entire structure of the ADC i will collapse into the PDP as its members will join other decampees in Akoko Land to declare support for the umbrella.

The meeting was well attended by political juggernauts in the district. Pa Adara , the Secretary of Elders Council in the state was there as he pleaded with members to build incurable resolve to rescue Nigeria and uplift the PDP. Some of the other gladiators in attendance were Alhaji Kehinde Lawal Agilagila, the former Chairman of the PDP and Caretaker Chairman of Owo LGA; Alh. Hamzat, former member of State Central Committee; Hon. (Mrs) Abike Olubitan; Hon. Yekini, former Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon. ( Mrs) Khadijat Eniolorunda , Arch. Sadiq Obanoyen ,Hon. Ilepe Johnson, former Caretaker Ose LGA among  others too numerous to mention.

However, apologies were received from a few leaders like Sen. Bode Olajumoke; Dr Adewumi Abitoye; Rt. Hon. Bakita Bello; Akogun Tokunbo Modupe; Hon.Alaba- Lad Ojomo; Prince Rotimi Ibidapo Bassey; Hon. Obarinmi and few other critical stakeholders

The reports as received from the six LGAs through their Chairmen were encouraging from  Hon. Ajayi Fatai( AKSW), Hon. Ibukun Coker ( AKSE) , Hon. Giwa Abdul-kareem( AKNE) , Alh. Usman Jamiu, ( AKNW) and Elder Aborowa( Ose) . The Chief Host, High . Idris Okeowo Olafimihan-Asaba added glamour to the report session as he with the Owo Cultural band entertained all in attendance to show the unity and cohesion among PDP members as PDP makes another date with destiny and history.

The aspirants by themselves or through reps if absent were allowed to address the party stakeholders , leaders and members. Twenty three aspirants for the three elective positions of Senate, Reps and State House of Assemby were in attendance.  Some of the aspirant that were physically present were those from Owo especially those vying for the State House of Assemby like Ch. Adebayo Ibrahim Adafen Olomiyete ( Abbey ShopRite), the State Auditor ; Hon. Adeyeri Samuel ( Ashami Shamrock)- the Owo LGA Youth Leader; Mr Ajanaku Kehinde , Mr. Ijalana Olabode; Mr Orimoloye Seidu; Hon. Ayokunle Adedeji and Hon. Idowu Fadipe.

From Akoko,Hon. Olalekan Bada(MHR), Hon. Adejoro Funmilayo ( MHR) , Dr Nelson Abila(Omo teacher-Senate), Hon. Olukayode Folagbade(MHR), Princess Adebimpe Saheed(MHR), Hon.Segun Kadir (MHR), Mr Obafemi Oladapo( MHR) and Hon. Olaniyi( MHR) were also in attendance. However , the senatorial aspirants like Akogun Tokunbo Modupe (TPT), and Hon. Foluso Mayowa Adefemi sent their representatives. Dr Bode Ayorinde ( Archiver),  Engr Alex Akinyemi Jnr, Hon. Raymond Oluwatoyin Dauda, Hon. Afolabi Adebomi, Hon. Oluwaseyi Ogundare (OGO), Hon. Abiola Moshood were also unavoidably absent but were represented by the Director-Generals of their Campaign Organizations while few others sent their apologies.

The Senatorial meeting became a funfare with the Owo Cultural Groups led by Lawo and others with beautiful native renditions and Ogagango that ushered Abbey ShopRite and Otunba Ajanaku into the venue of the meeting at the Old Ifon Park, beside Ijebu maternity. Of spectacular scene was the uncommon entourage of the LG Youth Leader also an aspirant,Hon. Samuel Adeyeri Ashami to the meeting. With what could be described as a political jamboree, the venue was awash with PDP posters of the candidates and caps that distinguished the aspirants and their supporters.

For the son of the political juggernaut, Dr Toyin Abitoye, his supporters led his Campaign Organization DG, Mr Skin Lawrence were seen with placards showing solidarity with the party and expression of confidence in the leadership of the party in the district.

Considering the present appalling security challenges of the country, the men of the Nigeria Police and other security agents were on ground to forestall any unforeseeable unlawful breakdown of law and order.

However the meeting was a huge success as it ended peacefully when the next meeting would be held by PDP AKNE chapter in a later date that shall be communicated to all stakeholders.
