In fulfillment of his pledge to his Ward Executive Committee members in Ijebu 2 Ward 5 under the Chairmanship of Alh. Mumuni Ojomo recently , the erstwhile LG Chairman of the party who later became the Caretaker Chairman of the local government council, Alhaji Kehinde Lawal paid a courtesy call to the Central Working Committee this Monday around 1:00pm in the afternoon in the local government area at the courtyard High Chief Asaba-Oluloro of Iloro Quarter, Owo , the incumbent PDP Chairman who doubles as a community leader.
The incumbent chairman of the PDP in Owo LGA, High Ch. Idris Okeowo Olafimihan Asaba warmly received the PDP leader and political heavyweight. He described him as a super-model in leadership with forthrightness and purposefulness.It was unanimously submitted by party officers that Agilagila impeccable track record of service as both party and LG Chairmen was outstanding and commendable.In his words, vehemently described him he said, " K. Lawal is a leader with a great purpose and vision. He is kind to me always and very magnanimous. His encouragement and support are evergreen. " Stressing further, he maintained," I have challenged him to assist in the mobilization of members as a grassroots mobilizer and a community leader." "It is my belief that our combined efforts shall eventually yield positive results", he vehemently concluded.
In his contribution, the Secretary ,Hon. Adebo Afolabi described Hon. Kehinde Lawal as a man of the people and a philanthropic leader. He added that he is extremely compassionate and a true lover of his people who understands the PDP constitutionally having served the party in various capacities.
"Alh. Kehinde Lawal is indeed a rare human species with both leadership and administrative acumen. He is knowledgeable, just and fair and a worthy ambassador of both the local government and our party while he was the PDP LG Chairman and Caretaker Chairman,and even out of office " ,Alh. Isiaka Obanigba popularly called Prof. Kadara revealed .
While addressing the PDP Executive Officers, Agilagila said his visit was a solidarity one and not to express any intent to run for any elective office. He clearly explained, " I have come to salute your courage and commend you all for your selfless sacrifice aimed at rebuilding this great party. Of important, I'm worried by the current state of the nation just like you all. Nigeria is on the brink of collapse. Our duty as opposition party with outstanding structures and definition of obligations is to help rescue the nation. " He further maintained, " As it's, it clear that APC is a mass movement and never a political party hastily set up to usurp power. Throughout the nation, the ruling APC has messed up everything and therefore plunges our dear fatherland into anomie. Nigeria is now a crime scene and a habitat for corrupt tendencies perpetrated with impunity and anomalies with unchecked insecurity challenges."
He thereafter pleaded that the stakeholders and hierarchies in the PDP at all levels must be ready and available to fix Nigeria. He sounded a clarion call to service by enjoining the PDP officers to use their positions to help reposition, retool,restructure and rebrand the PDP to a winning status so as to reclaim our lost glories as a party truly owned by the people.
On the political situation in the local government area , he strongly opined, " We stepped aside as we were back-stabbed by those we invited to the PDP and helped empowered. I was particularly frustrated and my concerted efforts rubbished by those I cut political teeth for. I was heartbroken and disappointed with our huge investment in the PDP deliberately allowed to go into oblivion. " Speaking further, he declared " You have seen it all. Our son ,HE,Arakunrin has used and is wasting our ticket. No industry is established here to cater for the teeming unemployed population. Our institutions like the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic is dead. Nothing is functioning. Workers and womenfolks are lamenting as well. Roads are considerably built especially in the municipal , what of the suburban communities? Our people are hungry; cars are extremely costly just like other commodities; there is artificial fuel scarcity and long queues and perennial insecurity challenges. Life is difficult with unfortunate youth restiveness. Nothing seems working fine in the entire nation."
Agilagila then concluded that he has come to join other critical stakeholders to provide purposeful leadership and direction now that rescue mission is our core mandate. " Local Government Central Committee especially the chairman must be assertive. You must be extremely proactive to provide leadership that will induce unity,cooperation and cohesion among critical stakeholders."
