Yesterday evening the PDP political family received with rude shock the sad news of the sudden death of the vibrant and dynamic political gladiator, Mrs Yetunde Dada in a ghastly motor accident. The unfortunate auto-crash has left many devastated due to great grief and anguishThe PDP Support Group (PSG) family in Ondo State is most devastated and extremely thrown into grief by the monumental loss of a legend.
Abejoye Media gathered from impeccable sources that she was travelling to Abuja for a very important personal matter when she was involved in a road carnage along Lokoja-Abuja Expressway that eventually cut her life in its prime.
Late 2019 , the departed was also involved in such a terrible road mishap with the like of Senator Tofowomo,the former Commissioner for transport under Dr Olusegun Mimiko-led administration; Hon. Banji Okunomo, former Caretaker Chairman ,Okikipupa LG, State Publicity Secretary, and one of gubernatorial aspirants in the 2020 governorship primary in ondo State; and the elegant and vibrant Toyin Ajide who died eventually when she and others narrowly escaped death.
Yetunde Dada few days ago, precisely on 9th February declared her aspiration in a grand style for the coveted seat of Member ,House of Representatives, Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Federal Constituency. This is a death too many for a rare gem who was a fine democrat and a refined administrator according Hon. Bode Obanla d,the State Coordinator of PSG where she was a Treasurer.
Before her unfortunate death, she served the PDP in Ondo State in various capacities. She was once the Caretaker Chairman of Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Government Council and the Treasurer of Ondo State Chapter of All Local Government Association of Nigeria (ALGON) . He worked with Hon. Tofowomo to become the senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District in 2019 general elections. In 2020, she supported Hon. Banji Okunomo to become the candidate of the umbrella party in the keenly contested primary that produced Eyitayo Jegede,SAN. She was a jackal whose face was regular at all party engagements
Yetunde also supported Eyitayo Jegede ,SAN after his emergence as the party candidate to become governor in the historic election of 10/10/2020. After the gubernatorial primary , she emerged as the Senatorial Woman Leader for Ondo South Senatorial District as great voice for the women in politics. She has been extremely consistent and firm in her resolve to propagate the cherished ideals of the PDP. In the bye-election to fill the vacant post of Hon. Omolafe Expensive in the lower chamber of National Assembly, the ebullient and industrious Yetunde supported Hon. (Mrs) Kemisola Adesanya, her bosom friend and leader who is the Ondo South Senatorial District Woman Leader. Her last public/ political engagement was her declaration of intention to run for the position of Member, House of Representatives in her federal constituency.
While speaking with Abejoye Media on telephone , Hon. Bode Obanla who currently works with the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP ,Barr. Ologunagba and is the State Coordinator of PSG said that the loss of Yetunde was a colossal one. According to him," Mrs Yetunde Dada was a prominent and committed foundation member of PSG who devoted all her time and resources to the rescue mission of the PDP when it was on ICU due to Makarfi /Sheriff political saga in 2017 shortly after the 2016 gubernatorial election in Ondo State. She criss-crossed the entire state with us as we worked on and appealed to all PDP gladiators that left the part as they were aggrieved due to Poroye/Jimoh Ibrahim and Faboyede/Eyitayo Jegede political imbroglio ,an offshoot of Makarfi/Sheriff political dichotomy and the Gbasbe /Konigba distortion." "As the Treasurer ,her accountability and financial prudence were legendary. Her magnanimity was also extremely contagious. We have lost a colossus, and her loss was monumental and irreparable." Bode with a heavy heart finally lamented," The vacuum her unfortunate demise shall create will be very difficult to fill. The dynamo of the Women Mobilization Vehicle is gone. As such,I'm deeply grieved at heart. This is obviously not a good time to lose such a portrait of party loyalty and figure of party/institutional discipline. "
He therefore on behalf of the entire PSG members expressed his deepest and kindest regards and heartfelt condolences to her husband, her children ,her relatives and the PDP family under the indefatigable and amiable State Chairman, Hon. Fatai Adams Adekanye while wishing the departed soul a perfect rest in the bosom of her Creator until we meet to part no more.
As it's ,the eclipse in the party in Ondo State is total as Mrs Yetunde Dada was extremely popular and had friends across the three Senatorial Districts of the Sunshine State.
