The Benin City,Edo State-based political bigwig and social magnate, Ch. Orimoloye stormed the venue of the Local Government Central Working Committee yesterday, followed by unprecedented crowd across the eleven wards in Owo LGA especially Iyere Ward 10 ,where he registered as a member of the PDP.
The crucial meeting became a political carnival when the aspirant and his entourage arrived at Iloro ,the Courtyard of Asaba of Iloro who is the party Chairman as they paid a courtesy call to the party officers at the grassroots levels.
While receiving him and his entourage officially, the Local Government PDP, Chairman , High Ch. Idris Okeowo Olafimihan-Asaba described Orimoloye as a surprise of the century as the local government party officers on ground were thrown into bewilderment considering the unprecedented large crowd seen with the aspirant who had come to inform the party officers of his aspiration for the House of Assembly ,Constituency (II).
While addressing the party stakeholders, Chief Orimoloye expressed his profound gratitude to the officers for the warmed hospitality given him and the members of his entourage. Orimoloye said," I have come to greet you formally and clear the air as regard my aspiration. I need your support as I have come to inform you of my contest for the coveted seat of Member,House of Assembly , Constituency (II) come 2023. It is a done deal as God is in the project."
He further reiterated his conviction and intention when he concluded, " Good representation is my priority. I shall take care of my constituents if elected. I will take care of the party leaders and members and also ensure power is returned to its true owners-the people if you give me the mandate of representing you. The welfare of all remains my bond with you and the entire people of Owo especially those in my Constituency."
The PDP leaders in their official capacities as party officers unanimously commended the Iyere-born politician for his great efforts for mobilizing both old and new members to support the umbrella party as they described what they saw as a welcomed development for the party, the PDP.
With this declaration, the coast is becoming clearer day by day with the fact that Mr Kehinde Ajanaku had previously declared his aspiration to run for the same elective office. Ajanaku had served the party in various capacities as General Secretary, Organizing Secretary and Youth Leader at Isaipen ward 8 . This is in addition to the purported rumour making round that Hon. Owajalaye Michael, the candidate of the party for the elective office in 2019 general poll is also warning up to throw himself into the political ring aside other aspirations that are still subjects of speculation.
Judging from the conviction of the aspirant as keenly supported by the leaders and members of the PDP in Iyere, the battle for the elective office shall be fierce considering the unprecedented political permutations and intrigues in the air. In the midst of all these developments ,Ch. Orimoloye said he is sure of victory.
As it's, only time shall tell as other aspirants are not feather-weight politicians but grassroots mobliizers and no-push-overs who also want to be the party candidate for the coveted elective office.
